Arlys Schiltz, age 80, of Gibbon passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Pastor Leonard Hummel will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2026 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Monday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Julie O’Brien Smith, age 63, formerly of Gibbon, died Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.

A funeral service will be at 11am on Monday, January 5, 2025 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 10-11am on Monday at the church, prior to the service.

Anthony “Tony” Kachelmeier, age 69, of Gibbon passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Southview Living Center in Gibbon. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Monsignor Eugene Lozinski will celebrate the Mass. A private family burial will be held at a later time.

Rev Duane Peterson:

Rev Duane Peterson was born September 6, 1930, in New Richland, MN. He passed away on July 31, 2025, in Peoria, AZ, at the age of 94. After graduating from Gustavus Adolphus and Wartburg Seminary; he interned in Seattle, WA. Served in Tracy, MN, Gaylord at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gilman, IL and back to Minnesota to St. John’s Bismarck, north of Winthrop. He really enjoyed the members and they stayed for nine years. (Approx. 1974- 1983)
